FAQs
-
Where do we upload prescreening videos for registration?
We accept unlisted or public YouTube links only. Links should be copied into the registration form.
-
Can teachers play duets with their students?
Yes, for Track 1B we allow: student x student pairs, student x teacher pairs, or student x parent/sibling pairs.
-
How should videos be filmed?
Any video submissions should be filmed landscape (horizontal), with an angle that shows the student’s hands and feet the whole time. For duets, both partners must be present and playing live together - we do not accept videos of one person playing alongside a pre-recorded part.
-
Does the prescreening repertoire need to be memorized when filming?
No, students can play with or without music in the prescreening videos.
-
Should my student's music be memorized for the festival?
Yes - we require that all participants for the Piano UO festival memorize their piece(s), both for the recital and the masterclass
-
Who is responsible for payment, the student or the teacher?
Students (and their parents) are the ones responsible for paying registration fees. If a teacher wishes to collect all student registration payments and pay on behalf of their students, it is technically allowed but please send us an email before you do so, so we know whose names are being covered.
-
Should prescreening videos be submitted at the same time as the application?
Yes. Otherwise the application will be considered incomplete, and a member of the team will have to reach out and collect that video. Please prepare all application materials (information, video if necessary, and payment method) at the same time.
-
Can I make special scheduling requests?
Any requests concerning scheduling can be answered by emailing mtnaducks@gmail.com
-
If I register for the festival and have to pull out, can I get a refund on registration fees?
The University of Oregon’s payment portal has a nonrefundable policy for registration fees. We are not able to issue refunds at this time.
-
Is my student's repertoire choice acceptable for the theme?
If you have read the guidelines concerning repertoire theme and selection and are still unsure whether the choice fits the theme, you are welcome to submit an email to mtnaducks@gmail.com for further clarification. We trust that teachers and students will choose appropriate pieces, but if further concerns arise, a member of the collegiate chapter may reach out to assist in making the final decision.
